BS EN 1504

CRL is fully compliant BS EN 1504, which covers the whole concrete repair process, from the initial identification of a problem, through to the works on site. It requires that a ‘whole life cost’ approach is taken so that the anticipated future needs if the client is met.

BS EN 1504 covers:

  • Specifies minimum performance levels
  • Provides identifiable performance testing
  • Provides standardised approach to design
  • Raises application standards
  • Removes technical barriers to trade
  • Products and systems for the protection and repair of concrete structures
  • Definitions, requirements, quality control and evaluation of conformity
  • Site application of products and systems and quality control of the works

BS EN 1504 went live September 2006. As of December 2008 compliance with BS EN 1504 becomes a mandatory requirement.

BS EN 12696 – Cathodic protection of steel in concrete

Cathodic protection is often used to stop corrosion of the steel reinforcement in concrete caused by chloride ion levels at the steel concrete interface in excess of 0.5% by weight of cement.

This European Standard was published in 2000. The standard covers the structure assessment and repair, cathodic protection system components, installation, commissioning and documentation.
