MILFORD HAVEN JETTY
<< Case Studies

In 2005 CRL completed a multi disciplined repair, refurbishment and Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) installation project to Milford Haven Jetty. This is a reinforced concrete structure situated in Pembrokeshire, South Wales that is divided into two main parts; the 250 metre jetty and its approach bridge.

Scope of Works:

  • Structural Cleaning
  • Survey & Structural Testing
  • Concrete Repairs to Beams, Piles, Joints & Cracks
  • Anode Installation
  • Cathodic Protection Commissioning
  • Removal of Redundant Pipe Work
  • Firemain Replacement
  • Installation of Bird Netting

Previous work identified that degradation had occurred as a result of chloride induced corrosion of the reinforcement steel and consequently associated areas of concrete had cracked, delaminated and spalled.

The ICCP system consisted of 12 independently controlled anode zones, with each zone having a central junction box where individual cables are terminated and connected to multi-core cables which run, via cable trays, to the transformer rectifier located in a housing adjacent on the approach bridge

The extensive ICCP system was installed and commissioned by CRL.

Client: Milford Haven Port Authority

Contract Value: £500,000.00
