Scope of Works:
- Traffic management
- Concrete repairs
- Asphalt repairs
- New lighting
- Deck waterproofing
- New signage
- M & E repairs
- Installation of a corrosion monitoring system
- Application of corrosion inhibitors
- Application of protective coatings
A survey of the car park identified some corrosion and spalling of the car park deck due to chloride ion in the concrete from de-icing salts.
CRL repaired the spalling areas of concrete then applied a corrosion inhibitor to the decks to reduce the future corrosion activity. At the same time a corrosion monitoring system was installed in the concrete to provide an early warning of any future deterioration.
The asphalt on the top decks was repaired and the expansion joints replaced. The lower decks received a liquid applied waterproof membrane to enhance the appearance and protect the concrete.
The soffits and columns were cleaned and a white protective coating applied to improve the lux levels. At the same time new lighting units were installed throughout the car park.
The existing signage in the car park was replaced with new illuminated signs and all the M & E services were checked to ensure they complied with current legislation standards.
The work was carried out while the car park remained in operation and the car park was awarded the “Park Mark” by the British Parking Association in recognition of its enhanced security and safety features.
