Dumbiedykes Residential Flats saw CRL, and its facades division CRL Facades, undertake one of its most ambitious projects to date with the external refurbishment and insulation of two ten storey tower blocks in Holyrood, Edinburgh.
Part of the Edinburgh Social Housing Scheme for the City of Edinburgh Council, the flagship project began in October 2006 and after a project duration of nearly 80 weeks CRL left site in April 2008.
Scope of Works:
- External wall insulation
- Wall tie replacement
- Cavity wall insulation
- Balcony waterproofing
- Replacement of roof coverings
- Renewal of balcony balustrades
Access to carry out the works was in the main achieved through the use of mast climbing platforms, allowing CRL access all external areas of the building whilst minimising the problems of security that traditional scaffolding can cause.
The successful delivery of the project came partly from the commitment CRL had to carrying out large portions of the specialist works ourselves and not use the traditional sub-contracting route, allowing concise control of the works to the developed programme, and to remain within budget.
Client: City of Edinburgh Council
Final Contract Value: £3.3 Million |
