In early 2009, CRL completed an extensive £1.6m external upgrade of 90 apartments at the 15-storey Dalmuir Court, in Clydebank, for Dunbartonshire County Council.
Scope of Works:
- 3300m2 of Structural EWI
- Replacement balcony windows 60 Sets
- New Sarna insulated roof
- New stainless steel glazed roof and balcony balustrade
- New common entrance doors
- Ground floor external fabric upgrade using Structherm Wonderwall
Work proceeded whilst each apartment remained fully occupied, even though the project involved the reclaiming of each apartment's 1.2m deep external balcony as part of the internal living areas.
Most of the external work, involving the installation of 3,300m2 of external wall insulation (EWI) was carried out from mast climbing platforms.
The external wall insulation involved the installation of the Structherm Structural EWI system. The 100mm thick insulation is encapsulated in a steel cage and because of the in situ 'no fines' concrete, the conventional fixing technique was not possible. Each cage was therefore secured into each floors slab by means of resin anchors, prior to the render finish being applied.
At ground level, the Structherm 'Wonderwall' system was employed, whilst at roof level the Sarna roof membrane system, utilising phenolic board insulation, has been installed to keep the building dry and warm.
