CRL is one of just a handful of companies to have acquired the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) accreditation.
The accreditation comprises OHSAS 18001:1999 covering Health and Safety Management, ISO 14001:1996 covering Environmental Management in conjunction with ISO 9001:2000 covering Quality Systems. The accreditation follows a full two years of system design and development by the company and ensures a fully integrated management system.
The Company is committed to:
- Set annual environmental objectives and targets, and monitor performance.
- Monitor and review environmental procedures and audit compliance to ensure standards are being maintained whilst highlighting potential areas of improvement.
- Encourage sub-contractors, designers and suppliers to adopt environmental policies and management systems to accord with our own.
- Reduce the environmental impacts of our sites and their effects on their local communities by keeping sites clean and tidy, conserving natural resources, flora and fauna, cultural and built heritage and adopting reasonable controls for preventing air, ground, water or noise pollution.
- Communicate with local communities and others with an interest in our environmental policies, plans and performance.
- Use materials and products from sustainable sources wherever viable and consistent with the client’s requirements, making use of opportunities to minimise waste and to reuse or recycle materials.
- Train employees and promote environmental awareness and commitment.
- Keep abreast of and comply with all legislation, regulations and codes of practice on environmental matters relevant to our operations.
- Establish emergency procedures and notify clients and competent authorities of any environmental problems encountered during construction, and jointly resolve such issues.
- Minimise use of transport and service vehicles regularly to maintain their efficiency.
- The Managing Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Company policy and reviewing performance.
