| Despite having to continuously work around other, it has taken specialist main contractor Concrete Repairs Ltd (CRL) just eight weeks to conclude the waterproofing of more than 22,500 square metres of car park decking at GlaxoSmithKlein’s new £200m Global Corporate Headquarters (GSK House) in West London.
The £450,000 contract encompassed the application of waterproofing systems to both the building’s underground car park and its multi-storey car park.
In the underground car park, 7,500 square metres of decking have been protected with Flowcrete’s lightweight polyurethane waterproofing system applied to an Isocrete Screed and in addition, anti-carbonation coatings have been applied to all soffits and columns. 15,000 square metres of reinforced concrete deck on the multi-storey car park has received a lightweight and flexible polyurethane waterproofing system, manufactured by Don Construction Ltd, along with cosmetic coatings applied to the soffit areas.
With over 45 years experience in the construction industry and regional offices throughout the UK (in London, Bristol, Sheffield, Manchester, Falkirk and Jersey), CRL is now able to provide a localised professional and comprehensive service for the inspection, repair and strengthening of reinforced concrete buildings and structures.
In addition to deck waterproofing, CRL’s comprehensive car park service includes concrete repairs, protective coatings, composite strengthening, joint sealing, corrosion control systems, vehicle barriers and new lighting/ticketing systems. The company also manages multi-disciplined projects that include general civils and building refurbishment work.
