The curved walls, a feature of the main entrance, were initially constructed of steelwork and cement particle board by the main contractor, before being finished by CRL. The contractor installed the insulated polystyrene board, rasped to the curvature of the building, prior to the application of a render and a final textured coating in a distinctive blue colour. The render system, applied to both the blockwork and the steel frame construction, continued past the curved entrance, both inside and outside the building.

The work was carried out by CRL, on behalf of Crawley Borough Council. The entire crack-resistant glass fibre mesh reinforced insulated render system, available in a range of vibrant coloured finishes, was developed by Weber Building Solutions.

Once fully operational the K2 development, which is due to open in November, will provide a wide range of modern public leisure and sports facilities for the area.
