| From a shortlist of ten contractors, specialist main contractor Concrete Repairs Limited (CRL) has won the ‘Contract Journal’ organised ‘Best Place to Work in Construction’ Award for 2006.
The winners of the various categories were recently announced at a gala luncheon at Lord’s Cricket Ground, London, with CRL being successful under the Building & Civil Engineering Contractors (Up to 100 employees) grouping. The success is great news for the company and its staff, who have worked diligently to achieve this accolade.
Now in its second year, the Contract Journal Awards attracted many entries, with organisations keen to be seen as one of the best employers in the construction industry. A key part of the Awards, sponsored by ConstructionSkills and Hays Construction, is that it is the entrant’s own employees that decide whether the company is successful, or not.
Companies that enter each year gain the added benefit of being able to compare their scores year-on-year. As this is the second year of the Awards a sixth category, for most improved performance, was added.
The ‘Best place to work in construction’ award quickly follows CRL’s successful nomination of multi-storey car park 3, at Gatwick Airport South Terminal, for the 'Best refurbished car park 2006'. The award was presented by the UK's 'Parking Review' journal for renovation work carried out by CRL, in partnership with Warings Construction Group and BAA.
Both awards reflect CRL’s 50 years experience in building maintenance, renovation and refurbishment. In addition to work carried out at Gatwick, the company’s extensive capabilities include condition surveys, cladding repair, structural strengthening, joint systems, new signage, M&E lighting, CCTV security, ticketing systems and vehicle barriers.
