| John Lynch has realised an achievement that you don’t hear too much about these days. A few years ago it was relatively commonplace, but the manner of business life nowadays has all but eliminated the notion that it will ever be achieved again.
John has just completed fifty years service with specialist main contractor Concrete Repairs Limited (CRL).
Born in Ireland, John joined CRL as far back as November 1956, just a few years after the Company was inaugurated. In those days the company’s expertise was primarily restricted to structural waterproofing and concrete repair and John was prepared to work anywhere the Company asked him, including in the fierce desert heat of the Sudan.
Although a humble man, John is a tough, dedicated and highly skilled employee. There is little he doesn’t know about CRL’s site operations in concrete repair, external refurbishment, surveying and façade installation and he continues to lead from the front. In his capacity as Foreman he has trained a huge number of employees, many of whom have retired before him.
“I could not begin to describe what a monumental achievement this is, nor attempt to calculate what John has earned this company both in financial terms and of course in reputation and goodwill”, commented Tony Rimoldi, CRL’s Managing Director. “I was proud to attend his 65th birthday celebrations in 2000, but as you can see he doesn’t let a silly thing like age get in the way of hard work. Sometimes we all find ourselves feeling just that little bit older; aches and pains, failing eye sight and memory not as good as it used to be. If we took a few little hints from John Lynch, we’d all feel a bit better!”
