| Specialist main contractor, Concrete Repairs Ltd (CRL), has just received two more accolades to add to its growing collection of honours.
This time the company has triumphed at the ‘Building Magazine’ sponsored 2007 Specialist Contractor Awards, which took place at the Hilton on London’s Park Lane, on November 20th.
In addition to winning the ‘Training’ category; with the judges describing the company’s commitment to employee training as ‘outstanding’, particularly for a company of its size, CRL was also presented with the ‘Best of the Best’ award, beating the other six category winners for the event’s top award.
The judges were unanimous in selecting CRL as winners of the training category. They were impressed that, in order to counter the industry’s skill shortages, CRL had established its own in-house training ‘School of Excellence’. They pointed to the fact that the company invests an average of £650 worth of training for each employee annually; no mean undertaking given that employee numbers currently total 220. Also, having been an ‘Investor in People’ for five years, the company’s training culture ensures very low staff turnover, with one employee recently celebrating 50 years with the firm.
In addition to the ‘Training’ and ‘Best of the Best’ awards, the ‘Building’ event included tributes for Specialists’ Personality of the year, Specialist Contractor and Essential Site Services Specialist of the year, Structural, Fit Out, Cladding, Roofing, M&E and Foundation/Groundwork Specialists of the Year.
CRL is making a habit of winning top construction industry awards. As well as sweeping the board at the 2007 ‘Construction News’ hosted ‘Specialists in Construction Awards’, by winning both the individual ‘Concrete’ category and the overall ‘Special Award for Exceptional Performance’, the company also recently won the 2007 ‘Contract Journal - Best Place to Work in Construction’ award.
