CRL’s Farnham Road Site Awarded ‘Performance Beyond Compliance’

Q13.2 performance-beyond-compliance-certificate-_1

CRL has recently received two awards from the Considerate Constructors Scheme. The first for ‘Performance Beyond Compliance’ at our Farnham Road Car Park Refurbishment Site, and the second a ‘Certificate of Compliance’ for our Brighton Marina Site.

This is what the monitor had to say about the Farnham Road Car Park Site, – ‘A professional appearance greets the users of the work area within the multi storey carpark with the facilities hidden away at the side of the building. Full safety procedures are in place with appropriate care being made for the safety of the public without compromising the effective use of the carpark while the works are carried out. Apart from considering the display of information on operative’s wellbeing and health, very good consideration has been made for the workforce. Many thanks to Terry for his time and assistance during my visit.’

and about the Brighton Marina Site, – ‘The levels of safety, protection and procedures were excellent and the Monitor felt very safe and comfortable during his time in the caisson. Overall a most pleasant site providing an image of how the construction industry has progressed over the last few years. Thanks to the S/M for an enjoyable visit and the time given to the meeting. Also pass on compliments to the operatives who were very professional and accommodating.’

The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) is the national initiative set up by the construction industry to improve its image. Started in 1997, this important initiative operates a voluntary Code of Considerate Practice, to which participating construction sites and companies register. The Scheme is a non-profit-making, independent organisation founded by the industry to improve its image. The Scheme is neither grant maintained, nor funded by the government, and is solely financed by its registrations.

Construction sites and companies can register with the Scheme and are monitored against a Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements. For more information on the Code, please click here.

The Scheme is concerned about any area of construction activity that may have a direct or indirect impact on the image of the industry as a whole. The main areas of concern fall into three categories: the general public, the workforce and the environment.

CRL are members of the scheme and have a policy of regularly registering sites with the scheme. These sites are then audited by Scheme Monitors who are drawn from the senior ranks of all disciplines within the construction industry. Monitors must have a high level of understanding about all aspects of the UK construction industry and demonstrate a desire to see it improve.
