Water penetration is a leading cause of deterioration in concrete structures, affecting durability, safety, and long-term performance. A waterproofing membrane provides a continuous, water-tight barrier that prevents moisture from passing through the surface. Typically 2 to 4mm thick, membranes must be strong, flexible, tear-resistant, and elastic to bridge cracks and accommodate structural movement.
Without effective waterproofing, decks, balconies, roofs, and tanks are vulnerable to leaks, corrosion, and structural damage. Selecting the right system for the specific environment and service life is critical to ensuring long-term protection. CRL applies waterproofing as a proactive measure to safeguard concrete, reduce maintenance costs, and maintain operational integrity across commercial, industrial, and water sector assets.
Protection
Expertly
Applied
CRL primarily uses liquid-applied barrier membranes, although sheet-based membranes are also applied where suitable. These systems create a fully bonded, seamless seal over the substrate, eliminating the risk of water tracking beneath the surface. Applications include car park decks, balconies, roofs, and tanks in potable water and wastewater environments.
For water tanks, membranes approved by the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) are used, such as epoxy, polyurethane, or cementitious materials. Wastewater systems often require epoxy coatings to protect against acidic conditions. CRL selects the correct material based on environmental exposure, movement requirements, and application conditions. Rigorous quality control, surface preparation, curing, and monitoring of environmental factors ensure the membrane performs reliably throughout its design life.
Asset Life
With over 70 years of experience, CRL delivers waterproofing and tank lining solutions that protect structures, prevent leaks, and extend asset life. Our in-house teams ensure every application is carefully monitored, from substrate preparation to curing, guaranteeing a high-quality, durable outcome.
Correct material selection, professional application, and quality-controlled procedures reduce maintenance costs, minimise water ingress risks, and provide clients with confidence that their concrete structures and tanks will perform safely and efficiently for years to come. CRL’s expertise ensures reliable, compliant, and long-lasting waterproofing solutions for every project.

What our clients say
“Now that the final phase of these works is completed we are confident that, thanks to the specialist advice and quality workmanship we received from CRL, the life of both towers has been extended by some 25 years and they will continue to operate safely and efficiently to provide clean, high quality potable water to the local community for a long time to come.”
