Our Australia division recently held its 2026 Stand Down Day on 4 March, bringing together colleagues and partners for a productive and engaging event focused on strengthening collaboration and building team spirit. The stand-down day also helped reinforce the company’s safety culture and share key updates across the business.

The event provided an important opportunity to encourage communication between CRL’s UK and Australian teams while reinforcing accountability for safety at every level of the organisation.

Sanjay Patel – Managing Director, Adrian Pike – Global Framework Director, and Steve Jones - SHEQ and Business Director, joined the Australian team and shared updates on the wider CRL business. Their presentations provided valuable insight into developments within the UK operations, as well as perspectives on safety practices, operational improvements, and the company's strategic direction.

During the day, Nick Lauricella and Martin John Swift from the Australian team shared updates on the continued progress and development of CRL Australia. They reflected on the strong business performance and major achievements across several key infrastructure projects, including the West Gate Tunnel, Cross Yarra Partnership, and the Melbourne Metro Tunnel.

The Stand Down Day also marked the official welcome of two new members to the CRL Australia team: Jackie Matich, Business Development Manager, and Santosh Sonaiya, Senior Estimator. Both bring valuable industry expertise that will support the continued growth and development of the Australian business.

CRL was also pleased to welcome its valued supply chain partners, CompliBuild and Hilti, who attended the event and shared their technical expertise.

To close the day, our team celebrated excellence in safety awareness with the presentation of awards for the Photo of the Month winners from the past five months, recognising outstanding safety observations captured across CRL projects.

The Stand Down Day was widely praised by all the attendees and provided a valuable forum for discussion, learning and feedback. It was a testament to the strong engagement of the CRL Australia team, who actively shared ideas and knowledge and engaged in constructive communication throughout the event.

Whilst out in Australia, Sanjay, Adrian and Steve took the opportunity to visit the Northeast Link project, where approximately 40 CRL team members are currently installing structural waterproofing within the tunnels.

With continued collaboration between the teams and several exciting opportunities on the horizon, CRL Australia remains well-positioned for further growth while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
